Report slow or unreliable network access

Describe the affected devices and connections before restarting shared equipment.

Separate the symptoms

Explain whether the problem is no connectivity, intermittent drops, slow performance, or access to one specific application. Note whether local resources still work and whether another approved connection reaches the same service.

Make a small comparison

  1. Record the affected location, device, and connection type.
  2. Compare Wi-Fi and wired behavior if both are available and approved.
  3. Note whether nearby users are affected at the same time.
  4. Try another ordinary business website to identify the scope.
  5. Record the time and frequency of the problem.

If a speed test is appropriate for your environment, include the result and test conditions. A single result does not identify which part of the network caused the problem.

Avoid disrupting everyone

Do not factory-reset a router, remove managed security software, or restart shared network equipment without coordination. Those actions can interrupt other users and erase useful diagnostic state. Describe any restart already performed and its result.

Escalate with context

Include the business impact, location, device details, affected applications, and whether VPN access is involved. Do not send Wi-Fi passwords, VPN secrets, or administrator credentials. For a site-wide outage, follow your service agreement's incident route and update the original ticket as the scope becomes clearer.
